Principles of End-of-Life Healthcare Decision Making: Right to Die Law and Ethics
This is a book that I have under contract with Edward Elgar.

End-of-life law and ethics are under constant scrutiny throughout the world. Although there are different trajectories and timelines internationally, there is constant pressure to reform in this area. Even if there are not current proposals for change or review of the law, there is ongoing agitation for change in public debate. The most salient example is whether law should change to allow assisted dying (or change current assisted dying laws where they already exist). Indeed, an extraordinary amount of academic and policy attention focuses on assisted dying. But only a small subset of dying patients is eligible or interested in this option. Therefore, this book extends the discussion, by describing and assessing a broader range of end-of-life options, including VSED and non-medical alternatives.

The Law is used to facilitate good health practices from an international down to a personal level. Whether it be the provision of personal healthcare, the development of cutting-edge treatments or managing global health events, the law plays an important role in ensuring a fair balance of interests and beneficial outcomes for both individuals and wider society.

Edward Elgar's Principles of Health and Medical Law series provides authoritative and comprehensive coverage of key issues in the field, addressing both longstanding and emerging debates from an international perspective. Titles in the series provide structured and analytical overviews that serve as go-to platforms for researchers and postgraduate students, as well as for lawyers and policymakers.
